Back when I bought my A3 I also eyed the Tavor, but back then (2013) I was unable to get one.
Bought the AUG and never looked back.
I think that a .223 like that would shine much more with a small riflescope than with a regular red dot.I have a Tavor too and put a Timney trigger in it. Still working at the right optics for it. I have a MRO on it but not liking it.
Timney trigger brought the Tavor about equal to my Aug.
I put an Acog on my AR15, its my favorite optic. Sometime this summer I will buy another one. I have been slow about changes because the Tavor is taking time to get used to. Hated the trigger and it had to go. The MRO red dot made me realize all red dots are not equalI think that a .223 like that would shine much more with a small riflescope than with a regular red dot.
An ACOG would be ok too.
I know that they are not.I put an Acog on my AR15, its my favorite optic. Sometime this summer I will buy another one. I have been slow about changes because the Tavor is taking time to get used to. Hated the trigger and it had to go. The MRO red dot made me realize all red dots are not equal
When you get old like me there are some electronic red dots that double up a stigmatized. With all the brightness settings I only have two that I can use. Can't see it with too much sun and too low a setting I can't see it.I know that they are not.
I like red dots on short range weapons, such as pistols, submachine guns and shotguns.
As I am somewhat of a cheapo, most of my red dots are Bushnell TRS-25's.
Douglas, did you get to shoot yours yet?Picked up a Vortex 1-4 Viper with illumination for 289.00 a couple of days ago, very happy. It's not going on my next AUG, that's reserved for an ACOG.
Any pictures of that setup?Friend of mine just showed me his with a very low mounted IOR Valdada 4x24, looked nice but maybe too low of a mount. All I did on my black NATO variant was a deflector, sear (installed by the manufacturer to ensure drop safe integrity) and on the top rail of the Steyr 3X, a very low profile BUIS consisting of picatinny clamps that accept Glock “iron” sights. I have an extra length USGI web sling on it for now. I’d sure like to stumble into a longer 24” barrel for it.
It was a tough decision, but I DO have about a zillion AR mags. I like AUG mags though.Yes , I wouldn't buy a NATO either, although if you have a pile of ar mags, I guess it would make sense. I love the factory AUG mags, way cool, and not overly pricey, I think.
