Text for pictures - new trend ?

I see posting here and AR 15 .com where someone is selling something and they say - Text for pics - I personally think it is pure laziness ..If you want to sell something put the time and effort in to posting pictures..Pictures speak a Thousand words and helps sell your item..Just my opinion ..

Thanks eagle54

Not sure about arf, but here it's not do able if you don't have a hosting service. And I don't have one. So text or email me for pics unless I get someone to post them. I get sick of loading down my computer with apps and then have to deal with the constant email and such.

I'm guilty. And it could be called laziness. Because living rural, sometimes it takes me a whole evening to upload even just a few pics which can be aggravating as hell. So, when it's something everyone has seen and knows what it looks like I couple that with my marketplace feed back and tell them if they want pics to text and if not, keep moving.
Having said that, I wouldn't try such an ad for something I'm asking big money for where details and condition are paramount to price. But for a NOS receiver or a worn carry handle? Take it or leave it, I couldn't not care any less.
I've never failed to sell something for a price I've wanted by not posting pics.

I've noticed that as well for people actually really wanting something and don't usually get tire kickers either.

Try posting links to image(s) if allowed

instead of images.

I am seeing a general trend in laziness. MO's filled out with only the sellers and buyers name, no address or ZIP Code (required for depositing). Buyers on GB providing their FFL's e-mail and saying "Please contact them directly". At least they said please. Guns I have coming in are packed atrociously, no effort at all to protect them. And of course, everybody wanted everything yesterday. Just another day in the life.

I see people using imgur links, but not inserting the photo into their sale thread. I use Imgur myself, but can't see the photos when people use the link method. Not sure why,but I figure is somebody won't put the pic in the thread,I'm passing up the item. To me,its kinda an insult to advertise something, and not include photos of it in the thread.

What would you like buyer to do instead?

Per Gunbroker policy, it is the responsibility of the buyer to provide the seller with all information needed to complete the transaction. Gunbroker spells this out very clearly to both the buyer and seller in post auction e-mails. It is not my responsibility to follow up with 25 FFL's a week to get their FFL to me. A link is fine, as long as I don't have to remind them 5 times that I don't have their FFL yet for an item waiting to ship. I understand that people are busy, but I'm busy too x25.

I think this is more not knowing how to use imgur. Myself, I had to screw it up a couple of time before I figured out how to post actual images from imgur. Some may not know there's a way to do it but there is, just have to play with the site a little to figure it out. Maybe laziness again?
I admit, the site isn't as easy to understand as photobucket was back in the day when it actually worked.

When I buy online I send an email to my FFL requesting him to send the seller a copy of his license and copy the seller on the email. I include the sellers name, phone, type of firearm and address and their email is already included as they have been copied on the email. It's really simple and has never failed.

If you do it once you have a template and merely change the sellers info and firearm type for the next purchase. I do a thorough job on my end and expect the same of a seller and 9 times out of 10 it works perfectly.

I use imgur myself. It's easier than PB ever was.

But that said, it's a pain in the ass to sit down and build a large sale add....I know first hand.

It's far easier when selling just a couple items to ask for text/email to provide pictures. That way they can go straight from my phone. And I almost always go the email route unless it's an established member....don't like putting out my #.
