I originally dropped this in the WW3 thread

Then I saw this recent 5.56 Serbu build video
So now we have more WECSOG inspiration.

I follow Mark Serbu on YouTube and have followed his Diabolus project for a while. Provided it takes AR mags and works, I'm contemplating selling some existing rifles to fund the purchase of one.

I would expect, if we all fall on "hard times", ammo will be the number one issue, vs firearms availability.

Yup. All those who ran out and bought panic AR15s also bought two boxes of ammo, and of that 10 rounds are gone. That leaves 30 rounds of ammo per AR15.

That reminds me a lot of the old stamped Bushmaster Assault Rifle. Looks like a more complicated version. Not sure that's a good idea, but hey, I'd give it an A for effort.
Assault Rifle?.?
Was it really called that?
Asking, because I don't know.
Evereyone here sez that "Assault Rifle" is a made up term. . . ?

Used out of context and bastardized from the original definition, purpose and function, it's another stupid fabricated main-marxist-media term invented to confuse the publik.

Thanx for confirming the call my "bullshit meter" hit on. . .
I hate the term "assault", that I believe to be a verb.
Quite often now used as a noun.

WTF?.?.?

^^^ This. It was a real thing. That's the reason for the capital letters. I know because I worked there back in the 90's and did warranty service on some of them.

The Serbu prototype certainly looks better made. That gas system looks a lot like the one on the Bushmaster M17S bullpup too.

Glad I asked.
I did not know that.
So now, I guess we can’t be so hard on the left and the media for using it.
They didn’t “make it up”.
They are just parroting.?.?

"Assault Rifle" has an actual military definition (and it ain't the one the media uses), "Assault Weapon" however, does not.

You need to come into the 21st Century brah and get some A3 uppers for easy optics attachment and rails for supported shooting sans barrel deflection.
I’ve built 2 M16A4 ( One Centerfire FN with Real Deal C79 ) ( One RIMFIRE with Fake ACOG & both with M5 RAS ) and several M4geries In Centerfire & Rimfire
And one early Canadian C7A1 in Black ( First AR pattern Flat top used by a Military )

"You need to come into the 21st Century brah"

Nah brah, think I'm good.

Weight of M16A4- 8.79 lbs.
Weight of M16A1- 6.37 lbs.

I know which one I'd rather carry any distance, mainly because my ruck humpin' days were a long, long time ago and pretty much everything seems lot heavier these days. Also no glass to break, no rails to abrade, no batteries to change. Just iron sights and nothing extra. If I'm humping a 9 pound rifle it's gonna be a FAL.

Just sayin'. But hey man, you do you and all that. YMMV.

Y' know, thinking about it, more than likely the iron sighted AR's would be the ones that hold up the best with little to no support in a WW 3/4 scenario. There's just less to go wrong with them. Hell, they have been found in the middle east having had zero parts support and virtually no maintenance for decades, ever since the CIA was smuggling them into Afghanistan back in the 80's. And most of those were M16A1's left over from Vietnam, so many of those rifles have to be over 60 years old by now. Battlefield lost M16's still turn up in police raids and guerilla weapons cache confiscations all over Southeast Asia as well, just saw some recently on the news being confiscated somewhere in the Phillipines.

Not too shabby reliability, really. Toss a new set of gas rings and maybe an extractor spring in those and I bet they'd still get it done today. Wonder what kind of shape something with 'backup iron sights' would be in after all those years of neglect?
