I guess Leupold is made in the Philippines now. I bough a pair of 8x42's. To be fair they are still great.
Did you seriously expect a $69. set of binoculars to be USA made ?
Personally,, I think its about time Leupold had a cheap ass import to compete with vortex, burris, etc etc...

Years ago Leupold had their "Wind River" line of Binos that weren't too bad...I had a pair fail me and they replaced them with an even better pair.
The "Rifleman" line is cheap shit mimicking Weaver (likely the same Plant making them) and it's ok for the most part.
A replacement/warrant Price is figured into each unit, and unless it's absolute shit, they still come out ahead...
How many times do you want to replace a "Lifetime Warranty" before the cheap price is overshadowed by the time and expense from replacing it?

ALL Leupold Riflescopes are USA made out of a single facility in OR.. See the counterfeit warning on their website. Binoculars on the top end of the line are from Japan, the bottom end from the typical Philippines or China.

You definitely get what you pay for in optics. That said, I've had a pair of Wind River 8x42 porro prism binos and a 15-45x spotting scope sitting in my pack for over 20 years now, and both have seen regular use at ranges and while hunting.

I keep threatening to buy some expensive roof prism binos, and newer spotting scope but my existing optics do such a good job for me that I haven't been able to justify replacing them.
