Red Dot on FAL

I'm thinking about mounting a red dot on one of my FAL's. Need the advice of the group think tank here; I'd like to be able to co witness the irons and red dot either by looking directly through the red dot or by way of mount with open peepway though main body. Anybody done this with a FAL?
Also anybody know of any specific red dots that will hold up well to the recoil etc? I've done lots of different stuff on AR-15, but would like input and advice before I go out and buy something. Seen pics of game rangers in Africa with red dots on FALs, but curious to say what you guys think.

I’ve had eotechs and sig Romeo’s mounted on my 16” stg and para. They work just fine.

Aimpoint T series red dot mounted on one of Brian’s LTR top covers.
This optic and cover allow co-witness in the lower 1/3rd of the optic.
I have 2 mutts with this arrangement and have fired hundreds of rounds through both.
No issues so far, I’m very pleased.

I think it would have to be with a “mount with open peepway though main body” because the red dot on mine sits very, very low and still completely blocks the rear sight. Then again, maybe with tall Israeli type sights it might co-witness.

why not just get an ARMS mount with the quick throw levers? If the dot fails, take it off in about 10 seconds and put it in your pocket.

I tend to think with a red dot on a FAL you are selling yourself short.

To me a LPVO is a better solution.

Sure, the red dot might be quicker on target.

Hybrid option might be the best of both worlds. Use it like a red dot up close or zoom in for farther targets.

My son in law has one of these scopes and it has amazingly clear glass and a bright triangle.

I was only able to cowitness a micro red dot by putting my rear sight on the highest setting. I just aimed low.
